Administration of the Faculty
The University of Helsinki accommodates eleven faculties under which function various university departments and units. The power of decisions is vested in Faculty Councils and Deans. The Faculty Office is in charge of the operation of the Faculty, its planning and administration.
The operation of the Faculty is regulated by several acts, decrees and university regulations and other rules.
Deans
The Dean is a professor elected by the Faculty Council whose task is to supervise and manage the operations of the Faculty. The Dean decides and deals with Faculty issues unless otherwise provided in an act, decree or University Regulations.
The Dean of the Faculty is Professor Jukka Kola. The Vice Deans are Professor Vieno Piironen (research affairs) and Professor Marketta Sipi (educational affairs).
