Definition
Viikki Food Science is an umbrella concept used for the activities in the area of food science and nutrition on the Viikki campus at the University of Helsinki. The Viikki campus is located in the Helsinki Science Park about 8 km north-east from the centre of the city. The Viikki campus specializes in life sciences and is the largest centre of expertise in this field in Finland. Food science studies are multidisciplinary. The emphasis is on chemistry, technology and applied biology, but it may also be on economics or behavioural sciences. Studies in food science provide an excellent basis for a career in food industry and trade as well as in research.
Viikki Food Science will meet various
multidisciplinary challenges in teaching and research aiming
